Huskers Collide with Buckeyes Sunday Afternoon



Nebraska is set to travel to Columbus, Ohio this Sunday, March 20 where they will compete against the Ohio State Buckeyes for their final regular-season meet of the 2022 season. The Huskers look to continue their two-time winning streak from their previous consecutive meets following Air Force, Army this past weekend. The meet will kick off on Sunday, March 20 at 12:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on the Big Ten Network.

Last Time Out

At this past weekend’s tri-meet at Air Force, vs. Army, NU took home the victory, finishing with 410.500, a season-best team score.

The Huskers pocketed 6 total event titles for the triangular. On parallel bars, Team Captain Dillan King earned a 14.25, claiming the title. Junior Sam Phillips took the title for the all-around and high bar, notching a 82.350 and a 14.00 respectively. Senior Charlie Giles impressed once again taking 3 individual titles for the night on vault with a 14.95, pommel horse with a 14.25, and floor with a 14.65, a career-best.

Looking ahead, the Huskers are ranked third overall moving into week eleven. Following the all-around, NU ranks first on pommel horse, second on vault and high bar, third on floor, fourth on parallel bars, and fifth for still rings.

Individually, senior Jake Bonnay places second on floor, senior Charlie Giles ranks second on pommel horse and third position on vault.

Scouting the Competition

No. 6 Ohio State comes off a recent loss after facing No. 2 Oklahoma last weekend, falling 408.400-399.050. The Buckeyes took away two event title from the meet.

Notably, Ohio State’s Trevor Cummings ranks No. 1 on pommel horse in the NCAA, while teammate Donovan Hewitt ranks second on still rings.
