Huskers Carry Momentum into Day Two of OSU Invite

Stillwater, Okla. – The Nebraska men’s tennis team continued their winning ways as they recorded four singles wins and two doubles wins at the Oklahoma State Invite.
 
Six Huskers competed and many of the team’s newcomers produced standout performances on day two. The team faced Tulsa in singles competition where they went 4-2 overall, and bested Wichita State 2-1 in doubles action.
 
Senior William Gleason got his second singles win of the weekend after he defeated Tulsa’s Callum Gale 6-2, 6-2. Senior Victor Moreno Lozano and sophomore Rudra Dixit also won their respective matches Saturday to stay unbeaten in singles competition. Fellow sophomore Nic Wiedenhorn got his first singles win of the weekend after taking down Tulsa’s Ezequiel Santalla 7-5, 6-4. Junior Shunya Maruyama and freshman Roni Hietaranta both fell short in their matches, as they now boast a 1-1 record in singles play on the weekend.

In doubles action, Mueller and Gleason took down Ovil and Mrsic of Wichita State 8-5. Fellow teammates Dixit and Hietaranta also recorded a win in doubles play as they won 8-3. Moreno and Maruyama dropped their doubles match against Lo and Richards 8-7 to cap off day two of the OSU Invite.
