Huskers and Wildcats Play to 1-1 Draw


Lincoln, Neb. – In its third regular season home game in a row, the Nebraska soccer team (1-1-1) played Arizona (2-0-1) to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night at Hibner Stadium.
 
Highlighting the scoreless first half was a shot by Eleanor Dale saved by the Wildcat goalie in the 30th minute. The Huskers also held the 7-2 advantage in shots during the first 45 minutes, while recording two corner kicks.
 
The teams remained scoreless to start the second half until NU found the back of the net in the 61st minute. Sophomore Jordan Zade attempted a pass to Abbey Schwarz in the goal box which went off an Arizona defender and found the back corner of the net. 
 
Nebraska held the 1-0 lead until Arizona equalized with a goal of its own in the 72nd minute, when Sami Baytosh scored off the assist from Maddy Koleno.  
 
Junior goalkeeper Sami Hauk, who secured four saves on the night, was one of four Huskers to play the full 90 minutes. Nicola Hauk, Lauryn Anglim and Sarah Weber joined Hauk in playing the complete game. 
 
Overall, the Huskers topped the Wildcats 10-8 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks. Nebraska’s shots were distributed among five different players with Raabe leading the team with four. 
 
The Huskers return to action this weekend when they stay home and face Weber State on Sunday, starting at 1:05 p.m. (CT).
