how would y’all feel about going after Hugh freeze if frost underpreforms?

while I do like frost and hope he succeeds, if he doesn’t get more than 6 wins this season I’m firmly in the frost out camp. while there are some interesting names to consider, chadwell from coastal, Campbell (highly unlikely but I wouldn’t be surprised if we make a run), some coach with a connection to the glory years (any names pop out? can’t really think of one lmao), I think freeze is the best option.

to address the elephant in the room, yes the ole miss scandal is a factor, but with NIL laws I think it shouldn’t rlly matter. yeah the escort stuff is shady, but hopefully he’s learned and ole miss has basically recovered. plus Nebraska is on the forefront of NIL and players should be getting bucketloads of money, so hopefully he wouldn’t have to do that anymore. I think Osborne, old boosters, and blue hairs may also have a problem with it, but freeze has managed to make the hyper evangelical crowd at liberty love him so I’m sure he could do the same here. not being connected to Nebraska may also not help him with that crowd but I hope Albert has the balls to not fall into the nostalgia trap that has put us in our current position.

moving on to why I actually want him. simply put, he’s a winner, dudes won at every level, high school, NAIA, G5, and P5. he’s one of the few people to have beat saban’s alabama and he did it twice. he turned a historically middle of the pack SEC team into a consistent top 25 team. the only season he didn’t qualify for a bowl game was the scandal ridden 2016 ole miss team. hell he got to liberty and got them to 10 wins in his second season and developed a likely top 10 QB pick. while he never really turned ole miss into a national title contender, I think he could get Nebraska back into the top of the conference and get a steady pipeline into the nfl going again.
