High Jumpers Lead Huskers at Pepsi Florida Relays



Nebraska high jumpers Jenna Rogers and Mayson Conner led the Husker track and field team on day one of the Pepsi Florida Relays on Friday in Gainesville, Fla. 

Rogers finished fourth in the women’s high jump with an outdoor personal best of 6-0 1/2 (1.84m). That mark moved the freshman into a tie for seventh in school history in the event. Mayson Conner earned third place in the men’s high jump, clearing 7-1 (2.16m) in his first outdoor competition of the season. 

LaQwasia Stepney took eighth place in the women’s long jump invitational section with a jump of 19-8 3/4 (6.01m). Zionn Pearson was fourth in the open long jump with a mark of 19-4 1/4 (5.90m). Micaylon Moore placed 11th in the men’s long jump, leaping 23-1 3/4 (7.05m). 

Andy Jacobs and Jessica Gardner both cleared 12-10 (3.91m) in the pole vault to finish eighth and ninth, respectively. 

Cory Berg was 10th in the 400-meter hurdles, running a PR 51.32. 

Elsewhere, Bailey Timmons ran the 5,000 meters at the Mike Fanelli Classic in San Francisco. Timmons posted a time of 14:38.78 to finish 17th. 

The Huskers continue action at the Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT). Three Husker decathletes will take part in the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Neb., and Erika Freyhof will race in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational late Saturday night.
