Giles Collects CGA Specialist of the Week Honors



Nebraska men’s gymnast Charlie Giles was named CGA Specialist of the Week announced the College Gymnastics Association Wednesday afternoon. This honors follows the impressive performance from Giles at the Air Force tri-meet this past weekend.

Giles showed his strength for the Big Red by earning 3 individual titles in the triangular at Air Force, vs. Army. The senior took the titles on vault with a score of 14.95, pommel horse with a 14.25, and floor with a 14.65, a career-high. 

Prior to the competition, Giles ranked third on pommel horse (13.88 avg.) sixth on floor (13.80), and sixth on vault (14.59). Throughout his collegiate career, Giles has totaled ten individual titles and tallied six individual titles during this season alone, three on pommel horse, two on vault, and one on floor.

CGA announced NCAA Gymnast and Rookie of the Week. These honors were allotted to Paul Juda at University of Michigan for Gymnast of the Week and Khoi Young at Stanford University for Rookie of the Week. 

No. 3 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team return to competition this Sunday, March 20, for a matchup against No. 6 Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The meet is set for 12 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted live on Big Ten Network.
