Freshmen Lead Huskers in San Diego



San Diego – Freshmen Jeremy Sisson and Jack Lundin produced the Nebraska men’s golf team’s top individual performances to lead the Huskers at the Lamkin San Diego Classic, March 8-10.

Sisson led the Huskers with a three-round total of 231 (81-72-78) over 54 holes on the 7,033-yard, par-72 layout at the San Diego Country Club. He tied for 76th individually in the 112 player field.

Lundin, who closed one stroke behind Sisson, tying for 80th at 232 (77-79-76), finished one shot ahead of teammate Branden Meyer, who took 86th at 233 (77-79-77). Tom Westenberger (T97th, 237) and Mark Foelbaek (T110th, 247) rounded out the Nebraska contingent.

The Huskers finished 19th in the talented 20-team field with a three-round total of 933 (314-311-308).

UCLA won the team title with an 868 (287-288-293), while Nevada finished as the runner-up at 874 (286-298-290). UCLA’s Devin Bling took home medalist honors with a 212 (-4), one stroke ahead of runner-up Ryan Bisharat from San Diego.

 

Nebraska heads south to Houston next week to play in the Spring Break Texas Dual at the Champions Golf Club on March 19.
