In a press release, the University of Oklahoma men’s basketball program announced that they had hired former NU basketball assistant coach Jim Molinari on Lon Kruger’s coaching staff.

“We’re thrilled to have Jim join our program as an assistant coach,” said Kruger in a press release. “He brings terrific experience, a passion for the game and genuine interest for the young people he works with on a daily basis. He does an excellent job of teaching the fundamentals, especially on defense.”

Molinari spent the past five seasons under head coach Tim Miles at Nebraska. Molinari has years of experience as both a head coach and an assistant. Previously, he was the head coach of Western Illinois before he joined the Husker’s coaching staff.

Molinari was the interim head coach at Minnesota in 2007, and also was the head coach of Bradley from 1991-2002 and the head coach of Northern Illinois from 1989-1990.

“It is a blessing and privilege to join Coach Kruger,” said Molinari. “I have known him for years as a mentor and group leader on and off the court. I also have high respect and admiration for Chris Crutchfield, Carlin Hartman and Mike Shepherd. I look forward to helping this special group of young men at this outstanding institution achieve their goals as people, students and athletes.”
