Husker Safety Cam’ron Jones Leaving Football Program

According to Brian Christopherson of Husker 247Sports, redshirt freshman safety Cam’ron Jones will be leaving the Nebraska football program. The Mansfeld, Texas native did not appear in a game for NU, as he took a redshirt year in 2018.

During his senior year at Mansfield High School, Jones made 106 tackles and two forced fumbles, helping to lead the Tigers to an 11-2 record in 2017. He was named a second-team Class 6A all-state selection by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Jones had offers from Baylor, Ole Miss, UCLA, Colorado, Oklahoma and Utah among a host of others before deciding on Nebraska. The recruiting service 247Sports ranked Jones among the country’s top 200 recruits.

Jones is the fourth Husker to depart the program since the end of spring practice, following punter Caleb Lightbourn and outside linebackers Breon Dixon and Quayshon Alexander.
