Christopulos Claims Third Rookie of the Week Honor



Freshman Taylor Christopulos was named the NCAA Rookie of the Week by the College Gymnastics Association Wednesday afternoon for his impressive performance at Iowa on Saturday, March 20. 

The Layton, Utah native competed in the all-around competition, finishing in third with a career-high score of 80.75. Christopulos also finished in third on floor with a score of 14.25. The freshman earned a fourth-place finish on both rings and vault with scores of 13.45 and 14.45, respectively. 

Christopulos is currently ranked in multiple events in the NCAA. The freshman has been ranked No. 1 in the NCAA on vault with an average score of 14.72 for the past six weeks. He is also the third-ranked rookie on floor, second-ranked rookie on rings and fifth-ranked rookie on high bar. 

This is Christopulos’ third time earning the NCAA Rookie of the Week award and his sixth weekly honor of the year. Christopulos last claimed this honor February 13. 

Michigan’s Paul Juda was named the NCAA Gymnast of the Week and Iowa’s Stewart Brown was named the NCAA Specialist of the Week. 

The Huskers return to competition Saturday, April 3 for the Big Ten Championships at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb. The meet will be on the Big Ten Network and is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. CT. Tickets are available at huskers.com/tickets.
