Thirty-six Nebraska track and field student-athletes have been named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for the 2019-20 academic year, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon
Ten Huskers posted perfect 4.0 GPAs during the 2019-20 academic year. They were: Spencer Powell (nutrition & health sciences), second-team Academic All-American Luke Siedhoff (biological sciences/Spanish), Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award semifinalist Givon Washington (economics), Simon Wiedel (elementary education), Shelby Brown (elementary education), Rachel Brush (elementary education), Andy Jacobs (broadcasting, journalism and psychology), Catherine Mick (science education 7-12), Margaret Pollard (computer science) and Madison Yerigan (nutrition & health sciences).

To be eligible for selection, students must be a recipient of Academic All-Big Ten Recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full-time at the institution for the entire previous academic year (two semesters or three quarters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year (excluding any summer grades).
