2018 NFL Draft Profile: Drew Brown

Kickers are football players too!

Placekicker Drew Brown is the latest in a long line of “Kicker U” legs that have a shot at a pro career. The 5’10”, 208 lb Southlake, TX native is the younger brother of another Husker kicker, Kris.

Brown is one of five Huskers that were invited to the NFL combine. For specialists, the combine is mostly a meet-and-greet with interviews being their main activity. Some specialists do drills, but Drew did not (at least I couldn’t find any numbers for him).

At Nebraska, Brown was a four-year guy on both kickoffs and place kicks. He had a career 77.6% in field goals made with his junior and senior seasons rising to 85.7%. His career long was a 51-yarder his junior season. He only missed two PATs in his entire Husker career, both in his sophomore season, for a career line of 178-180. On kickoffs, Drew forced touchbacks 42% of the time, a number unlikely to impress NFL teams.
