Let’s take a trip to Garfield County!

Welcome to Garfield County, Nebraska! Originally named after the 20th president of the U.S. of A. James A. Garfield, Garfield county has a population of around 2,000 people. The largest town and also the county seat is Burwell, Nebraska, with a population of around 1,200 people. Burwell is home to “Nebraska’s Big Rodeo” that takes place in late July every year.

In 1921, citizens of Burwell, Nebraska decided to put their community on the map with an annual community celebration. They chose to begin a rodeo, which reflected the western heritage of the town.
