Willis McGahee IV commits to Nebraska football

Nebraska began spring-game weekend with a significant commitment hours before kickoff.

Four-star edge-rushing prospect Willis McGahee IV announced his pledge to the Huskers on social media while in Lincoln for the Red-White scrimmage. The standout defender from Miami becomes NU’s fourth known 2024 recruit.

McGahee is the son of former star running back Willis McGahee, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2002, a first-round NFL draft pick in 2003 and a 10-year pro rusher. The younger McGahee is starring on the other side of the ball, coming off a year in which he made 50 tackles (eight sacks) at Miami Palmetto High School.

Palmetto is the same program that produced NU 2023 early enrollee and defensive back Dwight Bootle along with Husker safety Corey Collier. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound McGahee will play his senior prep season at Miami Columbus.
