Walsh Named MINK League Player of the Year



Will Walsh has been named the MINK League Player of the Year, following a vote from league owners, general managers and managers this week.
 
In 46 games with the Clarinda A’s, Walsh hit .331 with 59 hits, 21 doubles, seven home runs, 48 RBI and 41 runs. The redshirt sophomore drew 27 walks and had a .428 on-base percentage and a .567 slugging percentage.
 
The Leawood, Kan., native finished among the top-five in league leaders in six offensive categories after leading the league in hits, doubles, RBI, finishing third in slugging percentage and fourth in hitting and home runs.
 
In the MINK League All-Star Game, Walsh led the north team to a 7-2 win over the south team after collecting two hits with an RBI single in the first inning and a solo homer in the third.
 
Walsh tallied 12 multi-hit games in the summer, including four four-hit contests. He had 14 multi-RBI games and drove in a season-high six runs in a 4-for-5 effort with a double against the Carroll Merchants.
