Trio of Husker Volleyball Players Selected to All-Big 10 First Team

Three Nebraska volleyball players have made the All-Big 10 first team – Mikaela Foecke, Kenzie Maloney, and Lauren Stivrins.

Foecke, who was honored last season as well, was a unanimous selection. The senior led the team in kills per set with 3.22 and had the most service aces on the squad with 38. Maloney, a senior libero, averaged around 4 digs a set. In her career, Maloney has made 1,322 digs, sixth most in Nebraska team history.

Stivrins, a sophomore, led the Huskers in hitting percentage with a .401 mark. Stivirns also averaged 2.23 kills per set.

Also receiving recognition are Nicklin Hames and Callie Schwarzenbach, who were named to the seven player All-Freshman Team.  Hames, from Maryville, Tennessee, averaged about 10 assists and 3 digs per set this year. Schwarzenbach, a middle blocker from Kearney, Missouri, finished second in the conference in blocks with 1.43 per set.

Nebraska will be in action this Friday to take on Hofstra at seven o’ clock for the 1st round of the NCAA tournament. The match will take place in the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.
