Three Huskers Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

A trio of 2021 Nebraska football seniors were honored Wednesday, as they were named to the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.  The Husker honorees included tight end Austin Allen, offensive lineman Matt Sichterman and defensive lineman Ben Stille.

Allen put together a strong senior season, as he was named Big Ten Tight End of the Year and was a first-team all-conference honoree after hauling in 32 passes for 602 yards. In the classroom, the 2021 co-captain was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a nine-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. Allen earned his bachelor’s degree as a mechanized systems management in 2021.

Stille was a three-year starter for the Huskers who earned All-Big Ten honors in 2021 after totaling 40 tackles, including six TFLs. In the classroom, he was a two-time semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, which is the Academic Heisman in both 2020 and 2021 and was a five-time Academic All-Big Ten pick, the first in Nebraska football history. Stille completed his undergraduate (2019) and graduate (2021) degrees in nutrition and health science during his football career.

Sichterman started every game at right guard for the Huskers in 2021 and appeared in every game in each of the last three seasons. In the classroom, he was a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and four-time Academic All-Big Ten pick, while earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in each of his nine semesters at NU. Sichterman earned his degree is software engineering from NU in 2021.

The group highlights student-athlete who had their final season of eligibility in 2021, maintained a cumulative 3.20 GPA throughout their college careers and were starters or significant contributors throughout the 2021 season.
