The First Flu-Related Death Reported In Nebraska

Nebraska has its first flu-related death of the season. The Nebraska Health Department says it was an adult over 65 years old in the Southeast District Health Department area that includes Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee and Richardson Counties.

Last season there were 58 flu-related deaths including two children. Flu is currently described circulating at very low levels in the state.

The health department says one of the best ways to protect yourself is to get a flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend flu vaccine for everyone six months and older.
