Slowing Predicted for Nebraska’s Economy

Economic growth is expected to slow in Nebraska during the second quarter according to the latest University of Nebraska Lincoln Economic Indicator Survey.

UNL Bureau of Business Research Director Eric Thompson tells KLIN News that a rising U.S. dollar is putting pressure on Nebraska exporters in agriculture and manufacturing.

Thompson says that building permits for single-family homes and manufacturing hours-worked also fell during October. He points out that on the positive side–initial unemployment claims fell…suggesting continued strength in the Nebraska labor market.
