Seattle University grad transfer Matej Kavas commits to Husker basketball team

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Seattle University graduate transfer Matej Kavas has committed to the Nebraksa basketball team. He is the second grad transfer to commit to NU since Fred Hoiberg was hired, along with Haanif Cheatham, formerly of Florida Gulf Coast University.

This past season, Kavas led his team in scoring at 15.1 points per game. He also shot 46 percent from three point range, eighth best in the country. He started 31 of the 33 games he played in for the Redhawks and was selected as a member of the All-Wac second team. A native of Ljubljana, Slovenia, the 6-foot-8 Kavas played for the U-16 and U-18 Slovenian national teams before he joined Seattle.

Kavas is a good match for Hoiberg’s system at least on paper, due to his size and shooting ability. The news has not yet been made official by Nebraska. The Huskers will also be hosting five players this weekend, according to Husker 247Sports.
