Running Back Transfer Markese Stepp Among Others to Miss Spring Football with Injuries Nebraska Football news Huskers Scott Frost Ben Sille Marquse Buford


After Wednesday morning’s spring football practice, Scott Frost announced that running back Markese Stepp, defensive end Ben Stille and defensive back Marques Buford will be out of spring practice with undisclosed surgery.

Markese Stepp was slotted to become the bell cow of the running back room after he transferred from USC. He is a bigger back that runs north/south which was an emphasis according to running back coach Ryan Held.

Held mentioned that it can’t be just one running back but they are going to need multiple guys to step up and play this fall.

With the injury of Stepp it will give more reps to hopefully have some guys separate themselves from the pack.

According to Frost, Stepp should be back this summer.

Frost will give a rundown in the future about the timelines of Stille and Buford but at this time he expects that they will be back for fall camp.
