Question RE: Nebraska vs Wisconsin VB 2017 to present

(This popped into my head the other day and I would have held off asking until after Sunday had we played them. Apologies if this has been discussed at length.)

Nebraska and Wisconsin have both been very good at volleyball. In five of the past seven years, at least one of those teams have been in the finals. Nebraska is 190-34 during that span while Wisconsin is 181-36. Same coaches during that timeframe as well.

Yet Nebraska has been 2-11 in head-to-head matches. Wisconsin represents over 32% of Nebraska’s losses during this period. Both teams have been good; Nebraska has more overall wins; so what is it about this matchup that has been so challenging?

Is there something about their style of play or players that has presented a bigger challenge to our style and roster?

If Wisconsin was always better and putting in 0-1 loss seasons, that would be one thing, but they lose as well and posted a worse record in 4 of the past 7 years, so other teams were getting to them. Just curious if it is more a matchup type issue or if it is more the way the ball has bounced.

(Total aside, but, as a boxing fan, probably up until they finally fought, I thought Tyson would handle Holyfield. While that may not have been the best version of Tyson, with hindsight, maybe Holyfield was always going to present a unique matchup problem for Tyson. Even if Tyson did or would have easily dispatched the Alex Stewart’s and Bert Coopers that gave Hoyfield interesting bouts, perhaps Holyfield would have had his number?)
