Program-Best 21 Soccer Players Named Academic All-Big Ten



The Nebraska soccer team produced a program-best 21 Academic All-Big Ten selections, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Four Huskers, Grace Brown, Natalie Cooke, Theresa Pujado and Allison Ulness, earned recognition for the fourth time. Brown and Cooke are also three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

Pujado is a seven-time honor roll member and 2021 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, while Ulness is an eight-time honor roll member and three-time Tom Osborne Citizenship team honoree.

Seven additional Huskers received Academic All-Big Ten status for the third time, including Olivia Brown, Dakota Chan, Kenzie Coons, Adriana Maldonado, Kayla Mostowich, Hannah Young and Ashley Zugay. Young, a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, earned a 4.0 grade-point average for the academic year.

Three Huskers, Kathleen Aitchison, Alicia Cardenas and Marissa Popoola, made the Academic All-Big Ten Team for the second time, while Audra Clark, Eleanor Dale, Gwen Lane, Reagan Raabe, Makinzie Short, Katie Stoneburner and Elana Webber were named for the first time.

Nebraska’s 2021 total increases its number of Academic All-Big Ten selections to 151 since joining the conference in 2011. NU has produced double-digit honorees during all seasons as a member of the Big Ten. Before the 2021 total of 21 honorees, the soccer program’s most Academic All-Big Ten selections in a season was 18 in 2019.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
