Pour one out for the sports fans in this weekend’s graduating class.

Nebraska seniors who entered school in the Fall of 2019 may have seen the worst 4 years of Nebraska athletics, ever. They saw football win 5-3-3-4 games with no bowls (worst stretch since 1958-1961). They saw basketball win 7-7-10-16 games, going 0-4 in the B1G tournament (worst stretch since 1960-1964).

On top of that, their freshman spring semester was cancelled.

Were there highlights? Ya! It wasn’t all bad for this class!

Despite football and Men’s basketball terrible years, they went 3-0 against Iowa in 2022-23!

Volleyball was 2021 national runner-up. They saw volleyball lose the championship game to Wisconsin, no other final four trips. With no conference championship since 2017, this is the longest drought in program history (CCs were a lot easier to get in the Big 8/12). With volleyball being the premier sport at Nebraska, these seniors only got to see teams that were average by program standards (to be fair, those standards are exceptionally high).

Baseball was cancelled in 2020, but they won the B1G in 2021! They lost a close NCAA regional to number one overall Arkansas. Followed by a very disappointing 2022 season and not great 2023 season.

Women’s basketball had a first round exit from the NCAA Tournament in 2021, something men’s basketball would love to have.

Softball won the 2021 Big Ten tournament and women’s bowling won the natty in 2021. So they did get to see that, which is nice.
