NU Opens Spring at B1G Match Play

Nebraska men’s golf begins its 2022 spring season at the Big Ten Match Play from Feb. 4-5 at Hammock Beach Open Course in Palm Coast, Fla.

The two-day tournament features 11 Big Ten teams, including Purdue, Northwestern, Michigan State, Indiana, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Rutgers, Nebraska, Minnesota and Maryland.

The teams will golf the par 72, 6,981-yard layout at Hammock Beach Open Course in Match Play competition, with shotgun starts on Friday and Saturday at 7 a.m. (CT). Live scoring will be provided by GolfStat.com throughout the tournament.

The Huskers enter the field as the No. 9 seed based on their No. 103 national ranking by GolfStat. Nebraska will compete against the No. 8 seed (No. 102 GolfStat) Rutgers in the first match on Friday morning.

A win on Friday morning would advance the Huskers to a matchup against the No. 1 seed (No. 22 GolfStat) Purdue in the afternoon. Saturday will also feature morning and afternoon rounds, beginning with a 7 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.

Six Huskers are expected to compete, including Branden Meyer, Will Marshall, Mark Foelbaek, Reed Malleck, Caleb Badura and Jeremy Sisson.

Sisson produced Nebraska’s best stroke average (71.33, 6 rounds) during the fall season, while Marshall averaged 72.11 through nine fall rounds. Malleck provided the top finish for the Big Red in the opening fall tournament in September, while Meyer earned a top-15 finish at the Rich Harvest Farms Invitational in early October.
