No. 2 Nebraska Volleyball Dominates, Sweeping Michigan in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Demonstrating sheer dominance, the No. 2 Nebraska volleyball team continued its unbeaten run, delivering a clinical performance against Michigan with scores of 29-27, 25-17, and 25-14 on Saturday night. This triumph takes the Huskers’ tally to an outstanding 15-0 for the season, marking their ninth sweep thus far.

Lindsay Krause emerged as the evening’s star for the Big Red. She showcased her prowess with a remarkable 15 kills, just a tad short of her career-best. Her precision was impeccable, having committed only one error out of her 27 swings, resulting in an extraordinary .519 hitting percentage. The talented Krause also delivered two service aces and made five critical digs.

Not far behind was Harper Murray, who had a memorable return to her home turf. The prodigy registered a stellar double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, sustaining her ten-game streak of achieving at least 10 kills. Merritt Beason also chipped in with 10 significant kills.

Bergen Reilly exhibited finesse as she masterfully directed the Husker offense, dishing out 40 assists. Her leadership was instrumental in Nebraska’s superior .343 hitting percentage – their best in a Big Ten matchup this season. In comparison to Michigan’s performance, the Huskers outshone them in kills, digs, blocks, and aces. The Wolverines, currently standing at 3-12 and 1-5 in the Big Ten, had Valentina Vau-let as their top performer with eight kills.

Recounting the sets, the initial one saw Michigan taking an early lead. However, Nebraska’s resilience shone through as they managed to turn the tide, with notable contributions from Murray and Allick. The second set was largely controlled by Nebraska, as they quickly established dominance and thwarted any attempts by Michigan to catch up. The concluding set highlighted Nebraska’s supremacy, with Krause’s 15th kill sealing the Wolverines’ fate.

Nebraska fans have much to look forward to as the team heads back home after a string of away games. The next challenge for the Huskers will be hosting Michigan State, set for Friday at 6 p.m. at the revered Devaney Center. As the season progresses, Nebraska continues to affirm why they’re regarded as one of the top teams, not only in the Big Ten but in the nation.
