Nebraska track claims two titles at Tyson Invitational

For the fourth time this season, Henry Zimmerman replaced himself in the Nebraska record book.

Zimmerman’s toss went 75 feet, 2 inches, leading him to a victory in the men’s weight throw at the Tyson Invitational on Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

His newest mark keeps him in second in the Big Ten and fourth in the NCAA. Josh Marcy finished eighth in the event with a personal-best distance of 65-11½.

Bryanna McQuillen picked up the Huskers’ second title of the day, shaving 8 seconds off of her 3,000-meter time to win the event in 9 minutes, 26.46 seconds. That is good for sixth in school history. Ali Bainbridge took ninth in the women’s event at 9:40.68.

Darius Luff clinched his spot in the men’s 60-meter hurdles final, crossing the line at 7.65 seconds in the prelim. That’s the fastest time in the conference this season and fifth in the NCAA. In the final, he placed fifth at 7.75.
