Nebraska Leads Penn State 27-6 At The Half


Luke McCaffrey gets the start. Nebraska starts on the WEST SIDELINE FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1961.

McCaffrey leads the offense down the field with tempo and some fire. It’s nice to see. McCaffrey picked up a first down on a run on 3rd and 10 after Ethan Piper had our beloved Husker’s first false start of the game.

McCaffrey accounted for 69 yards on the first drive.

Cam Taylor-Britt intercepted a poorly thrown Sean Clifford pass and returned it to the 15 yard line. Nebraska ran 6 play, giving Wan’Dale Robinson a shot at running back. On third and goal from the five, Kade Warner dropped a well-thrown pass from McCaffrey, forcing Nebraska to settle for a field goal by Connor Culp.

Penn State got the ball after the Nebraska field goal and went on a patient scoring drive.

Clifford threw the ball away on 3rd and 11, missing a wide open dude in the end zone. Clifford didn’t have time, he was hurried by Pheldarius Payne.

Jake Pinegar hit a field goal to score for Penn State.

Our beloved Huskers got themselves into a third and long situation when Robinson was tackled after only a two-yard gain, but Brandon Smith was flagged for unnecessary roughness for throwing Robinson to the ground after the whistle had blown.

One play later, Zavier Betts went around the right end on a JET SWEEP for 45 yards and outraced the PSU defenders to the goal line for a beautiful, beautiful score!

Sean Clifford went back to pass and Deontai Williams punched the ball out, then picked it up and returned it for a touchdown. It was very nice.

The official twitter account got excited.

Penn State replaced Sean Clifford with backup Will Levis. Levis did a decent job of taking Penn State on a drive that was killed by penalty. Right guard C.J Thorpe piled on Nebraska defensive lineman Deontra Thomas, injuring Thomas. One play later, Thorpe drove a Nebraska player into the ground then laid on him a little too hard and was called for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Our beloved Huskers got the ball back on the Penn State 42 with 1:39 left. Key plays, on 4th and three from the 35, Robinson picked up the first down on a six yard run. On 3rd and 9 from the 28, McCaffrey under pressure flipped the ball out to Marvin Scott for 14 yards to keep the drive alive.

Nebraska ran out of time and called timeout. Culp kicked another field goal as time expired.
