The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a specific recruiting strategy for certain prospects that has proved to work in the past.
Nebraska and a few other programs make it a point to recruit young underclassmen to show initiative and to develop a relationship with the recruit early on.
The Huskers recently offered a class of 2027 wide receiver, meaning he will enter his sophomore season next season.
Demare Dezeurn is a receiver at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, California. He recently set the state record and U.S. freshman record in the 60 meters at 6.78 seconds.
Following his insane track performance in late February, he received his offer.

After receiving his offer, he spoke with HuskerMax about it.
“It was amazing just a blessing from God. It was just a humbling experience to know all the work I put in is paying off,” he said. “I’ve been working every day just tying to get better and perfect my craft. That offer made my week.”
According to college rules, “For most sports, coaches can begin reaching out to athletes starting June 15 after sophomore year or September 1 of their junior year of high school.” – ncsasports.org
He had a specific way of finding out his offer considering he couldn’t talk with the coaches.
“My recruiter Coach Mike broke the news to me. They talked about my speed how they liked it and how they wanted to jump on me in the recruiting process as soon as possible. They also expressed they wanted me to come visit.”
He believes he could bring something specific to Husker Nation.
“I know I could bring my work ethic. My ability to get open and make big-time plays. I know I could be a reliable, cooperative player and just a positive vibe to the team and coaches.”
Dezeurn talked more about what makes Nebraska special to him.
“Nebraska, becomes special through the camaraderie among its players, their passion for the sport, and the teamwork they display on the field. The dedication and hard work they put in during practice, along with the support they offer each other during games, contribute to their specialness, which we get to see on Saturdays.”
“I look forward to speaking with the WR coach (Garret McGuire) and the head coach (Matt Rhule). I think it’s important to build a relationship with my position coach to learn from him and I think it’s important to have a strong bond with my head coach.”
As mentioned earlier, the tactic is very important and effective for most recruits to jump on their recruitment early on.
“I think it was really important. So that I know that they believed in me from the jump and my abilities in the classroom and on the field. I feel like it creates a sense of belonging, that players want to have on their team.”
He confirmed that he also will visit.
“I will visit over the spring.”
