Nebraska football lineman Nash Hutmacher qualifies for NCAA Wrestling Championships

Nebraska football defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher turned his first collegiate season into an unqualified success.

He’s headed to nationals.

A top prep wrestler, Hutmacher qualified for the NCAA Championships Saturday night by winning two consolation round matches at the Big Ten Championships. He’ll have a chance to medal on Sunday.

Hutmacher finished the 2023 football season with 40 tackles and five sacks, then set his mind on wrestling for the Huskers. He lost roughly 50 pounds to reach the 285-pound heavyweight limit. He’s 7-4 this season after finishing 166-0 in his final four years at Chamberlain (South Dakota) High School, where he won four state titles.
