Nebraska Falls 3-0 to No. 9 Penn State


The Nebraska women’s soccer team (1-5-3) dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 9 Penn State (8-1-1) at Hibner Stadium on Sunday afternoon. 
 
The Nittany Lions took an early lead with Frankie Tagliaferri scoring the team’s first goal in the fourth minute. Penn State extended its lead in the eighth minute off a goal from Rachel Wasserman to take a 2-0 lead at the half. Elle Kershner added Penn State’s final goal in the 61st minute. 
 
Nebraska outshot the Nittany Lions 7-6 in the second half but could not put any past Penn State’s keeper to cut into the team’s advantage. The Huskers recorded eight shots in the match, two of which were on goal. Olivia Brown, Dakota Chan and Gwen Lane each took two shots for the Huskers while Ashley Zugay and Lane added shots on goal. 
 
Olivia Brown, Grace Brown and Makinzie Short all played the entire 90 minutes against Penn State. Short added two saves on the day and the Husker backline recorded its second save of the season to keep the Nittany Lion lead to three. 
 
Kayla Mostowich made her first start of the season in Sunday’s game. In her third career start for the Huskers, she played 71 minutes.
 
Nebraska plays its final scheduled regular season game next weekend against Iowa. The Huskers and Hawkeyes meet Saturday, April 3 at Hibner Stadium with kickoff set for 1:05 p.m.
