Our take

Nebraska cleared a major hurdle by beating Indiana last week, ensuring that the Huskers wouldn’t finish the year winless on the road in Big Ten play.

That and a win over Minnesota has NU comfortably in the field with three games left in the regular season, avoiding the last four byes or play-in games in most projections.

None of those three games — on the road at Ohio State and Michigan, at home against Rutgers — are against teams expected to be in the field, but that’s fine for Nebraska’s outlook.

The Huskers don’t need any more major resume-builders. Merely taking care of business and avoiding disaster will set NU up for its first tournament appearance since 2014.
