Morgan Receives 2nd Team All-Big 10 Recognition, Ozigbo and Spielman Selected to Third Team

Senior wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. made the All-Big 10 2nd team list as both a coaches and media selection. Morgan became the first Husker ever to gain over 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. Morgan also surpassed former Husker receiver Kenny Bell for most career receptions in team history, with 189 catches in his career.

Morgan wasn’t the only Husker to receive All-Big 10 recognition on Wednesday. Senior running back Devine Ozigbo and sophomore wide receiver J.D. Spielman were selected on the All-Big 10 third team. Spielman made both the coaches and media’s list; however Ozigbo was selected only by the Big 10 coaches.

Ozigbo had a breakout year, becoming the first Husker since 2014 to rush for over 1,000 yards in one season. Spielman also had a record setting year with his 204 receiving yards against Wisconsin, the most in team history in a single game. Despite missing the last two games of the season, Spielman had 818 receiving yards and 66 receptions.

True freshman QB Adrian Martinez received an honorable mention award, along with his teammates on the offensive line, Brenden Jaimes and Boe Wilson. Martinez was selected as the Big 10’s freshman of the week three times in 2018. Jaimes and Wilson helped the Husker offense churn to an average of 456.2 yards per game.

Nebraska ranked 26th nationally in total offense, and third in the Big 10, behind Ohio State and Purdue.
