Mohamed Barry Named to Butkus Award Watch List

Nebraska inside linebacker Mohamed Barry was named to the Butkus Award Watch List on Monday. The senior is one of 51 players on the watch list. The Butkus Award, named after NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, is awarded annually to nation’s best linebacker. It’s the second watch list distinction for Barry, who was named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Award watch list last week.

Last season, Barry had the second most tackles in the Big 10 with 112 (55 of which were solo tackles). The Grayson, Georgia native was also an All-Big 10 selection in 2018 and was chosen as Nebraska’s defensive MVP.

The finalists for the Butkus Award will be announced on November 25th and the winner will be announced around December 10th. The only past Husker to win the Award was Trev Alberts, who won it in 1992.
