Michigan fan coming in peace!

I come in peace, I just wanted to say that because I’m currently watching B1G football and 60 I’m finally getting to watch the Nebraska versus Illinois football game from Saturday. I’ve got to admit that the biggest problem with Nebraska football right now isn’t the quarterback position which I’ve been seeing mentioned as the problem. In my opinion the problem is Scott Frost and his scheme on offense. Scott Frost and his offense remind me a lot of the Rich Rodriguez era Michigan football teams. The offense is very fast, very small, good in space, has a running quarterback who’s able to create a lot when the play breaks down. The problem is the offense just isn’t physical at all, the offensive line is very small, the skill position players aren’t very big, the quarterback Luke McCafferey is very small.

When it comes down to it even though we’ve seen a lot of spread offenses in the Big Ten the, Big Ten still plays big boy football. When I say big boy football what I mean is that the Big Ten is still a very physical conference to play in. Even Michigan who has just in the last couple years changed over to a spread offense under Josh Gattis still has the ability to run between the tackles and pound the rock. In this conference you have to be able to outmuscle your opponents from time to time and what I’m seeing on television right now is an offense that is able to out speed a lot of teams but isn’t able to out physical a lot of teams. Couple that with the fact that they’re young, and the defense isn’t great and you see a team that gets pushed around a lot. That’s just my thoughts, I see a lot of similarities to the Rich Rodriguez era Michigan football teams and I think that’s a problem. Maybe Scott frost can turn things around, but I have a feeling he just isn’t a fit schematically in the Big Ten.

Ultimately I hope you guys can turn things around, because as a Michigan football fan who grew up in the Rich Rodriguez era, I know what it’s like to be far under expectations with a coach who doesn’t seem to be up to the task even though you have a long history of excellence as a university.
