McVeigh Named to Australia Senior Team



Former Husker Jack McVeigh will represent his native Australia during FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying late this month. Australia will play three games during this qualifying window with two games against China (June 30 and July 3) and against Japan (July 1).

This will mark McVeigh’s second appearance with the Australian Boomers and first since 2019. The 6-foot-8 forward from Cabarita Beach, New South Wales, has played professionally in Australia following his college career. He spent the 2021-22 season playing for the Tasmania Jackjumpers in the National Basketball League, averaging 12.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

McVeigh spent three seasons at Nebraska (2016-18), playing in 78 games, including 15 starts. His best campaign was during his sophomore season in 2016-17, when he averaged 7.5 points per game in 30 games, including 11 starts.
