Jorgenson Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships



Gena Jorgenson is set to wrap up her freshman season on the largest stage at the 2023 NCAA Championships, March 15-18 in Knoxville, Tenn. Jorgenson qualified for the event after swimming a school-record mile time of 16:13.54 at the Big Ten Championships.  

The rookie from Aberdeen, S.D., was also invited to swim the 500 freestyle and the 400 IM, after posting NCAA B-Standard cuts in both events at the conference meet.

Action is set to begin on Wednesday, March 15 with the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. Individual events start on Thursday morning with the prelims session scheduled for 9 a.m. (CT). Jorgenson will race in the 500 freestyle on Thursday, the 400 IM on Friday and the 1,650 freestyle on Saturday.

Jorgenson is among 281 swimmers across the nation that qualified. Divers will have the opportunity to earn a spot at nationals next week at the Zone Diving Championships.

The NCAA Championship meet can be viewed live on ESPN+ each day. Tape-delayed coverage will be available on ESPNU at 7:30 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, March 29.
