I know that this will be controversial, but some varieties of corn have purple and gold kernels…..

This fall many of us will be watching college football without a team in the mix, and it will be hard to enjoy. I would like to propose a solution:

We pick LSU as a temporary team.

My reasoning:

1. We don’t hate them……like Texas. We haven’t played LSU since 1987, and although Joe Burrow left us for them, at least they won a National Championship.
2. When they come to Omaha for the CWS, they travel well.
3. Their fans are known for being friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate….qualities that Nebraska fans can respect.
4. We can say cool things like Geaux and make delicious food like gumbo.
5. If we all get behind the SAME team, it would be pretty incredible.
6. They are contenders.

The rules:
1. Support them until the day following their last game. Then we bleed red again.
2. Once the season is over, you can deny that this ever happened.

Also, no. If they win it all we do not split the championship. Depending on everyone’s response to this, I will forward our decision.

EDIT: Based on the responses (81% upvote, roughly 30% of comments in the affirmative) I have let LSU know they will receive one of our electoral votes in the upcoming college football campaign. I feel like this is a fair compromise! Thank you for being apart of the process, and for those of us that will be rooting for LSU, Geaux Tigers? Feels weird still
