Huskers Wrap Up Action at Horned Frogs Invitational

The Nebraska beach volleyball team won two of three matches to finish out the Horned Frogs Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday. 

Nebraska beat Abilene Christian twice (5-0 and 4-1) around a 4-1 loss to No. 15 TCU. The Huskers finished the tournament with a 2-3 record and are now 5-3 on the season. 

Lexi Sun and Jazz Sweet won all three matches they played on Saturday, including a 17-21, 21-15, 15-8 victory over TCU’s No. 3 pair, Jensyn Bledsoe and Trinity Cavanaugh. 

Madi Kubik and Kenzie Knuckles swept their morning match against Abilene Christian’s 3s, 21-19, 21-16, and they then took down the Wildcats’ No. 1 pair in the evening match, 13-21, 21-17, 15-5. 

Lauren Stivrins and Nicklin Hames swept both of their matches against Abilene Christian’s No. 1 and 2 pairs (21-17, 21-11 and 21-12, 21-9). Callie Schwarzenbach and Hayley Densberger teamed up for a pair of wins (21-15, 21-8 and 23-25, 21-18, 15-6) as NU’s No. 5 and 4 pair, respectively. 

Emma Gabel and Riley Zuhn earned a 21-18, 16-21, 15-8 victory in the morning as the Huskers’ No. 4 team. 

Nebraska will play its next three matches at the Hawks Championship Center, beginning Thursday, March 5 against Wayne State at 2:30 p.m.
