Huskers to Seek a Waiver for Quarterback Noah Vedral

Now that redshirt freshman Tristan Gebbia’s departure has been made official, head coach Scott Frost announced in the weekly Big Ten Teleconference today that Nebraska would seek a waiver for Central Florida transfer Noah Vedral.

According to NCAA rules, Vedral, a sophomore quarterback, must sit out the season for transferring. However, Frost said Nebraska is “working” on making Vedral eligible for this upcoming season. Frost expressed hope that college football wouldn’t become “transfer mania,” and that the NCAA’s process for transfer waivers would be “fair.”

Without Vedral, Nebraska has limited experience at the quarterback position. The starter, Adrian Martinez, is a true freshman. The backup is sophomore walk-on Andrew Bunch, and taking the third spot is true freshman walk-on from Kearney Catholic, Matt Masker.
