Huskers To Host Challenge Matches

Lincoln – The Nebraska wrestling team will hold challenge matches on Saturday, Nov. 6 inside the Hendricks Training Complex. The matches will begin at 9 a.m. and will feature an intrasquad format.

This event is free of charge and will be held in the wrestling room upstairs at Hendricks. Along with the permanent bleacher seating in the room, additional seating will be provided for spectators.

The challenge matches provide fans their first chance to get a glimpse of the 2021-22 Huskers, who are coming off a third-place finish at the 2021 Big Ten Championships and a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.

The team returns 29 letterwinners from last season, including eight NCAA qualifiers. All-Americans Mikey Labriola (2019, 2020, 2021), Ridge Lovett (2020), Chad Red Jr. (2019, 2020, 2021), Peyton Robb (2020), Eric Schultz (2020) and Taylor Venz (2018, 2020) highlight a strong group of returners.

Nebraska opens its season at home when it hosts the Nebraska Duals on Nov. 11, before beginning the dual season against North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets to the Nebraska Duals and the North Carolina dual, as well as each of the other five home duals, are on sale now and can be purchased at Huskers.com/tickets or by calling 1-800-8-BIG-RED.
