Huskers’ Tackling Needs More Work, Erik Chinander Says

Saturday’s scrimmage showed that the defense’s tackling needs work, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander said after Monday’s practice, the 10th of Nebraska football’s spring drills.

“It’s not good enough right now,” Chinander said while noting that it’s somewhat understandable because “in spring football, you don’t get a ton of shots to tackle guys to the ground.”

Chinander said the scrimmage, the second one this spring, amounted to “a good back and forth” between the offense and defense. “I thought it was fast and physical on both sides of the football. I didn’t see any dumb stuff out there penalty-wise or just guys doing dumb stuff.”
