Huskers Set for 32nd Annual Greeno/Dirksen Invite



The Nebraska cross country team co-hosts the 32nd annual Greeno/Dirksen Invite on Saturday at the Mahoney Golf Course. The men’s 8K begins at 10 a.m., followed by the women’s 5K at 10:50 a.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Nebraska women placed second in the team standings with 97 points in the season opener at the Augustana Twilight. Making her Nebraska debut, Alea Hardie won the 5K with a time of 17:00.07. Lindsey Blehm was the second Husker in the top 10, covering the course in 18:12.39 to place 10th. The Husker men finished fifth in the team standings with 128 points. Grant Wasserman paced the Big Red with an 18th-place finish with a run of 19:51.80 in his Nebraska debut.
 
Greeno/Dirksen History
The meet began in 1990 when Nebraska Wesleyan combined its meet with Nebraska’s annual meet to form what is now the largest cross country event in the state.

The Huskers have won 13 men’s titles and 17 women’s titles. The men won their last team title in 2015, while the women took home the team crown in 2011. At the Greeno/Dirksen Invite in 2021, the women took home second as a team with 41 points and the Nebraska men placed fourth overall with 106 points.
