The Nebraska swimming and diving team travels to Columbia on Wednesday, Nov. 17 to compete in the three-day Mizzou Invitational. The 10 competing teams hit the water for Wednesday’s prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. Finals are set for 5:30 p.m. each day.

Mizzou regularly invites a talented field to Columbia, which will add fuel to a highly motivated group of Huskers.
All-American Autumn Haebig, the 2021 Big Ten Champion in the 200 freestyle, returns for her fifth season with the Huskers. The Nebraska co-captain from Grafton, Wis., owns five individual victories on the season, and won all four of her events against Kansas to lead the Huskers to a 192-106 dual win over the Jayhawks.
Nebraska’s distance freestyle corps is led by 2020 CSCAA All-American and co-captain Audrey Coffey. Freshman Ilaria Murzilli has joined Coffey and made an immediate impact for the team, winning the 1,000 freestyle title against Kansas while recording the best time (10:10.43) in the event of any Husker so far this season.
Senior Shannon Stott has been dominant in the freestyle and butterfly events this season, capturing seven individual titles, including three in the 200 butterfly and two in the 500 freestyle.
Madesyn Ronquillio, a co-captain and consistent contributor in the backstroke events, has won both the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke three times each in dual competition. In the last dual, she captured both to score big points for the Huskers. Ella Stein has also been a factor in this talented squad. The sophomore from Hudson, Wis., excels in the breaststroke events and has won the 100 breaststroke three times and the 200 breaststroke twice.
Freshman Milica Opacic is a young Husker to to watch, as she continues to improve in the pool. Against Kansas, Opacic (Novi Sad, Serbia) won all four of her events, including two individual titles in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly, to bring her to an impressive six individual victories on the season.
On the boards, senior Sara Troyer leads the Huskers with seven victories and has finished in the top-three all 10 times she has competed this season. During the season opener, Troyer had her career-best dive in the three-meter against South Dakota State (345.68). Senior Hallie Roman and sophomore Reagan Hinze are consistently placing in the top-five and continuing to improve throughout the season. Hinze (Conroe, Texas) has had two career-best dives within the last two duals, scoring a 275.35 in the one-meter against Iowa State (Oct. 30) and a 269.63 in the three-meter against Kansas (Nov. 5).
Missouri, the host of the invite, was ranked No. 20 in the Preseason CSCAA Poll. The Tigers clashed with Big Ten foes, Purdue and Michigan for a double-dual in West Lafayette, Ind. on Nov. 5. The Tigers defeated Purdue (179-121) but dropped a 215-85 decision to the Wolverines.
