Huskers Off To Solid Start At Badger Invitational

Madison – Husker golfers Evan McDermott and Jeremy Sisson are leading the way for the Nebraska men’s golf team in a solid showing so far in the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.

McDermott, the Spring Lake, Mich. native, shot a 72 (+1) in his first round on Sunday before posting a 75 (+4) in his second round Monday. He sits in a tie for sixth place on the individual leaderboard. The third and final round of individual action tees off at 8 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday.

Team play also teed off on Monday, with senior Jeremy Sisson putting on a show. The senior from Skaneateles, N.Y. put up a stellar first round score of 68 (-4) to lead the Huskers, and posted the second best score in the tournament field.

Quinn Yost, making his first lineup appearance, put up a solid first round score of 74 (+2). Will Marshall, the senior from Ellburn, Ill., also put up a 74 (+2) in his first round of action. 

The Huskers were rounded out by Harry Crockett, who shot a 75 (+3), and Reed Malleck, who shot a 79 (+7). Overall, the Huskers sit in 10th place through one round with a team stroke count of 291 (+3).

The Huskers will look to continue their solid effort thus far when action resumes in the Badger Invitational Tuesday. Action tees off at 8 a.m (CT).
