Huskers Make Trip to Tulsa

The Nebraska women’s golf team travels south to Oklahoma to compete in the University of Tulsa’s annual Dale McNamara Invitational, Oct. 11-12.

The Huskers will be part of a 13-team field on the par-72, 6,200-yard layout at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow. Nebraska will compete as the lone Big Ten Conference representative in the tournament, which features BYU, Fresno State, Kansas State, Lamar, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, SMU, Texas State, UNLV, UTSA and the hosts from Tulsa. 

Following a practice round on Sunday, Oct. 10, the teams will hit the course for a shotgun start beginning on Monday at 8:30 a.m. (CT) for two rounds of continuous play. The action concludes with Tuesday’s final round, which will also be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Live scoring throughout the tournament will be provided by GolfStat.com.

A balanced Nebraska lineup has continued to grow and improve throughout the fall, including a recent victory by sophomore Michaela Vavrova at the Stampede at The Creek in Elkhorn, Neb. (Oct. 4-5). Vavrova fired a career-best 217 (+1) over three rounds on a 5,988-yard layout at Indian Creek while playing as an individual. It was Vavrova’s first collegiate title and helped her earn a spot back in Nebraska’s lineup in Tulsa.

Vanessa Bouvet hopes to continue her strong play after a top-10 finish at The Molly Collegiate (Sept. 27-28). She leads Nebraska with a 74.00 stroke average this fall, including a top-five finish at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational (Sept. 20-21). Freshman Miu Takahashi and seniors Kirsten Baete and Megan Whittaker complete NU’s five-player lineup in Oklahoma.
