Huskers in the Pros: Dec 2.



Throughout the 2022-23 season, Huskers.com will spotlight the nearly two dozen former Huskers playing professionally around the world.

Bryce McGowens (2022) has seen the most extensive action of his career over the last week with the Charlotte Hornets. He had 10 points and six assists in 24 minutes in a loss to Boston on Monday, Last night, he played 20 minutes and had four points, two rebounds and a block in Charlotte’s 117-116 win over Washington.

Alonzo Verge Jr. (2022) has made an immediate impact playing for MKS DG in Poland. He had a 26-point, three-steal effort in their most recent cup game on Wednesday night. He has scored 20+ points in every game this month playing the Poland EBL and Alpe Adria cup and is averaging 21.3 points per game in all competitions.

Kobe Webster (2021-22) has continued his strong start for Den Bosch in The Netherlands, as the team is 4-2 in its FIBA Europe Cup group. Webster, who had 26 points and eight rebounds in a loss to Parnu last week, rebounded with 10 points and four assists in a 82-64 win over FC Porto on Wednesday night. He is averaging 11.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the group stage. Webster is also averaging nearly 10 points per game during the BNXT League during early portion of the season

Evan Taylor (2017-18) is enjoying a strong first season for Arkadia in Austria. He was his team’s player of the game in a recent loss to Oberwart, finishing with 28 points, including 13-of-13 from the line, and nine assists. Taylor, who played in the G League following his Husker career before going overseas, is averaging 23.3 points on 53 percent shooting and 5.9 assists per game this season.

After missing two seasons, Leslie Smith (2014-15) is back playing with the Bristol Flyers in the United Kingdom and had five points and four rebounds in a win over Manchester last week. Smith returned to the club he played for during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
