Huskers Head to Minnesota Triangular

The Nebraska swimming and diving team travels to Minnesota on Saturday for a triangular that includes Iowa and the host Golden Gophers. Action begins at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis at 10 a.m., with both swimming and diving portions of the event streamed in their entirety by BTN Plus.

The Husker swimmers will use the meet as an opportunity to prepare in the same conditions as the upcoming Big Ten Women’s Swimming Championships, which will be held at the Freeman Aquatic Center from Tuesday, Feb. 23 to Saturday, Feb. 27. The Big Ten Diving Championships will be held in West Lafayette, Ind.

The tri-dual format will also give the Huskers a chance to even their season record against Iowa, which defeated Nebraska, 170-128, in Iowa City to open the abbreviated Big Ten season on Jan. 16. The Hawkeyes hold a narrow 8-7 lead in the all time series with the Huskers.

Saturday’s competition marks the first time Nebraska will face Minnesota in the pool this season. The Golden Gophers own an 11-5 edge in the all-time series with the Big Red. Nebraska is 0-2 in duals on the year after a narrow home loss to Illinois at the Devaney Natatorium on Jan. 23. Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes and Gophers both enter the triangular at 1-2.

Nebraska features five returning All-Americans this season, led by three-time first-team All-America diver Abigail Knapton on the platform. Fellow diver Sara Troyer added All-America honors last season, along with swimmers Autumn Haebig, Audrey Coffey and Madison Coughlen.
