Huskers Finish Strong to Claim Second at Big Ten Championship

Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska men’s gymnastics team finishes second at the Big Ten Championship, their best finish since joining the conference. The night is highlighted by three second-team All-Conference selections.

Freshman Taylor Christopulos, finished second on vault with a score of 14.55. Junior Charlie Giles finished in third on vault with a score of 14.50. Sophomore Sam Phillips finished tied for third on high bar with a score of 13.80. 

Senior Zach Peters earned the Sportsmanship Award which is nominated by Big Ten Conference coaches. 

First Rotation 

The Huskers started the first rotation on parallel bars. Junior Dylan LeClair started NU off with a 13.10. Junior Evan Kriley followed with a career-high score of 13.65. Sophomore Dylan Young notched a 13.10 while senior Evan Hymanson finished with a score of 12.00. Junior Dillan King finished the rotation with a 12.85. Freshman Taylor Christopulos, competing in the all-around, earned a 12.15. 

Second Rotation 

NU moved to high bar where they finished with a team score of 64.25. Sophomore Sam Phillips led the team with a score of 13.80, matching his career high. Hymanson followed him with a 13.20. Bonnay finished with a score of 12.85 while King earned a 12.80. Christopulos, competing in the all-around, notched a 13.55, a career-high. 

Third Rotation 

Bonnay led the Huskers through the third rotation as they competed on floor, finishing with a 14.15. Phillips followed with a 13.80. Sophomore Moritz Mueller earned a 13.00 while junior Charlie Giles had a score of 12.40. Christopulos finished the rotation with a 12.25. 

Fourth Rotation 

The Huskers had a break during the fourth rotation. With seven teams competing, each team had one rotation that served as a bye. 

Fifth Rotation 

Nebraska competed on pommel horse during the fifth rotation. Charlie Giles started the Huskers off with a 12.80. Senior Mitch Tyndall followed with a 13.35. Sophomore Khalil Jackson earned a 13.15 while Evan Kriley notched a 12.85. Sophomore Cooper Giles finished with the rotation with a score of 13.50. Christopulos, competing in the all-around, finished with a 12.25. NU finished the rotation with a team score of 65.65. 

Sixth Rotation 

Christopulos led the Huskers during the sixth rotation on rings with a score of 13.70. Young followed closely with a 13.50. Sophomore Nikita Bolotsky earned a 13.20 while LeClair and Hymanson both received a 13.00. 

Seventh Rotation

Nebraska finished the seventh rotation on vault where Christopulos led the Huskers finishing in second with a score of 14.55. Charlie Giles followed, finishing in third, with a score of 14.50. Dylan LeClair earned a 14.15 while Evan Kriley notched a 13.90. Dylan Young finished out the competition with a score of 13.80. 

The Huskers finished with a team score of 398.000. 

Michigan took the title with a score of 411.000. Senior Cameron Bock of Michigan and Shane Wiskus of Minnesota claimed a share of the all-around title. Shane Wiskus was awarded Gymnast of the Championship.
