College Park, Md. — The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (1-10, 1-8 Big Ten) finished its Big Ten regular season at the Big Five meet. The Huskers posted a team score of 195.200 and placed fifth at the event.
Freshman Kinsey Davis posted a career-high score of 9.95 on uneven bars while Sophomore Kylie Piringer tied her career-high on floor exercise with a score of 9.90.
Junior Kaitlyn Higgins posted a career-high score of 9.90 on balance beam.
Rotation One
The Huskers opened Big Fives on floor exercise. Piringer led NU in the first rotation with a score of 9.90, which tied her career-high on the event. Makayla Curtis followed with a 9.825, while Kaitlyn Higgins recorded a 9.675. Freshman Martina Comin and senior Anika Dujakovich posted scores of 9.55 and Chloe Lorange recorded a 9.525, which was not counted.
Illinois held the lead heading into the second rotation with a score of 49.250, followed by Maryland at 48.925. Ohio State sat in third with a team score of 48.650, with Nebraska in fourth at 48.500. Minnesota started the meet on a bye.
Rotation Two
Nebraska headed to vault for the second rotation. Piringer posted the highest score for NU on vault with a 9.80, which tied her season-high. Comin and Dujakovich posted scores of 9.775, while Lorange and Higgins recorded scores of 9.70. Curtis rounded out the rotation with a 9.30, which was not counted. The Huskers finished the rotation with a team score of 48.750.
Illinois held onto its lead in the second rotation as the Fighting Illini held a score of 98.400. Maryland sat in second at 98.100 with Nebraska in third at 97.250. Minnesota sat in fourth after starting their meet on floor with a 49.250, while Ohio State did not compete in the second rotation and remained at 48.650.
Rotation Three
Nebraska’s bars team performed well in the third rotation, as all six gymnasts hit their routines. Freshman Kinsey Davis posted a career-high of 9.95 on the event, which is the highest score by a Husker since March 16, 2019. Kynsee Roby followed with a 9.85 and Clara Colombo posted a 9.825. Kathryn Thaler recorded a 9.80, Lorange finished her routine for a 9.775 and Piringer posted a 9.70, which was not counted. The Huskers finished the third rotation with a bars team score of 49.200, which is their best of the season.
Maryland jumped into the lead with a score of 147.025, with Nebraska in second at 146.425. Minnesota sat in third with a score of 98.475, Illinois in fourth at 98.400 and Ohio State ended the third rotation in fifth with a score of 97.625
Rotation Four
The Huskers finished their afternoon on balance beam in the fourth rotation. Higgins shined for NU on the apparatus with scores of 9.90, which surpassed her career-high. Thaler followed closely with a 9.85, while Roby finished her routine for a score of 9.825 and Lorange posted a score of 9.80. Curtis recorded a score of 9.375 and Colombo posted a 9.325 which was not counted.
Rotation Five
Nebraska finished its meet during the fourth rotation and went on bye for the final rotation.
Minnesota won the meet with a team score of 197.375, Illinois finished second at 196.600 and the host team, Maryland, finished in third with a score of 195.725. Ohio State finished fourth after finishing with a score of 195.275, followed by Nebraska with a score of 195.200.
